International Moth United States Class Association

The International Moth is the fastest sailing dinghy in the world. Founded in 1928 by a union of builders in Australia and New Jersey, the class has long embraced a philosophy of open design: the class rules regulate number of sailors (one), length (11’), width (7’), and sail area (8 m^2), but leave most everything else up to the builder. This flexibility has led to the evolution of today’s Moth, a lightweight hydrofoiling dinghy capable of speeds over thirty knots.

Moths are raced all over the world by athletes ranging from “weekend warriors” to top champions from the America’s Cup and Olympic circuit.
