Peter C Henderson

"Responsibility is an essential part of racing and working on the ocean, including being conscious of our environmental impact. I've always believed in leading by example and 11th Hour Racing is a great platform to do this."

Peter grew up on the Great Lakes, racing one-design keel boats and “big boats” with his father and brothers. Peter’s father started a one-design fleet in his hometown. He imported the first boats when Peter was 1 year old. They spent every summer racing one-design in the bay and doing the distance races around the Great Lakes. After college, Peter started working on yachts; racing, delivering, etc.  He has raced and worked professionally on a variety of classes including Melges 24, Farr40 and TP 52 and has been the Captain of the Bella Mente Racing program since 2009. The current Bella Mente is a Maxi 72.

On Ocean and Sailing Passion...

My father taught my brothers and me to sail and race. He passed on his passion for sailing, the water and the outdoors. We spent our free time racing, windsurfing, sailing Hobie 14s off the beach and exploring our bay and the river. I appreciate that I get to spend most of my days working on or near the water.
