Community Boat Building

Student Water Quality Evaluation Project

In partnership with Northeastern University’s Marine Science Center, this project expanded Community Boat Building’s experiential learning program to include hands-on science activities that offered underserved 5th grade students in Boston the opportunity to advocate for the environmental health of Boston Harbor. Students used the rowboats they built at Community Boat Building to collect water quality data throughout the year, and presented findings to local yacht clubs and boating centers to increase understanding and stewardship of the Harbor.
