Beach Clean-Up at the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Chicago

At each Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series, Land Rover BARĀ andĀ 11th Hour Racing collaborate on organizing a community outreach/engagement event.

The day before racing began in Chicago we teamed up with Land Rover BAR and Shedd Aquarium for World Oceans Day and Great Lakes Action Day. We led a beach clean-up on the shore of Lake Michigan with 27 students from Walt Disney Elementary School.

During the clean-up, the students learned about the impact of invasive species, plastics pollution, and how collecting data can help protect the coastlines. Participating in events like this encourages the next generation to care for the wild places they live near and play in. The students collected 18.95 lbs. of trash and 18.48 lbs. of recycling, totaling 37.43 lbs. of marine debris that will no longer be in our waterways.
