Baltimore County Sailing Center
Youth Launch Program and Education for Children in Homeless Shelters
Baltimore County Sailing Center (BCSC) has provided water and sailing access to the Baltimore Community for 27 years, with a focus on underserved students and disabled groups. The Youth Launch Program provides 50 children living in homeless shelters with the opportunity to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through hands-on activities throughout a 10-week summer program. This program will help children learn social-emotional skills such as leadership, self-confidence, and resilience, along with essential life skills such as teamwork and communication. This program will teach its students to appreciate their local waterways through experiential learning on the Chesapeake Bay.
- Provide weekly STEM education and social-learning for 50 students through sailing, fishing, kayaking, birding, and other on-water activities.
- Include transportation, daily meals, and a safe and stress-free environment for students living in homeless shelters to learn about and explore the waterfront.
