Agua Day Camp and MEO Paddles Programs
Movement Education Outdoors (MEO) provides youth of color and of limited economic resources with equitable access to experience the outdoors. 11th Hour Racing supports MEO’s efforts to reach more students and expand programming from its new home at the King Preserve in Saunderstown, Rhode Island.
In the summer of 2022, MEO will host Agua Day Camp for 6-8th-grade students and MEO Paddles for 9-12th grade students. Youth participants will develop water safety skills, environmental stewardship, and place-based ecological and historical literacy. These two summer education opportunities are organized in collaboration with Prudence Island, Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council, Community Boating Center Providence, and The Nature Conservancy in Rhode Island.
About Movement Education Outdoors
Movement Education Outdoors is an Afro-Indigenous-led organization working in Providence and throughout Rhode Island to teach transformative ways of being fit and healthy by being outside. All MEO programming is grounded in four pillars: mindfulness, Black and Indigenous history, environmental justice, and leadership. By providing opportunities to learn through hiking, kayaking, camping, and snowshoeing, MEO equips youth with the resources to become mindful stewards of their bodies, their communities, and the environment.
