International Tennis Hall of Fame and 11th Hour Racing Mark Sixth Year of Partnership with Significant Sustainability Achievements
The International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHF) and 11th Hour Racing have renewed their year-round sponsorship for the sixth consecutive year. This partnership focuses on sustainability efforts throughout the ITHF organization, inclusive of the Hall of Fame Open tournament, 2025 Induction Celebration and overall year-round operations.
As Official Sustainability Sponsor, 11th Hour Racing supports the ITHF’s efforts to track and offset emissions throughout its operations. The sponsorship further promotes education and implementation on practices such as composting, recycling, eliminating single-use plastics, and using sustainable and recycled products. 11th Hour Racing will also continue to support TeamFAME’s composting and gardening projects.
Initiatives during July’s tournament yielded tremendous results, including:
- Achieving a 78 percent diversion from landfill rate, an increase from 2024, with new recycling efforts for racquet strings and tennis balls.
- An increase in offering sustainable food items, including 35 percent local produce, 95 percent sustainable seafood and 85 percent naturally raised proteins. Concessions during the tournament provided nine plant-based menu items.
- Eliminating 4,800 single-use plastic bottles from the use of canned water and refilling stations, in addition to a 93 percent return rate with the TURN reusable cup system resulted in diverting 280 pounds of plastic waste.
- In partnership with Bike Newport, the Hall of Fame Open provided dedicated bike parking and messaging to tournament attendees.
- For the third consecutive year, the Hall of Fame Open received the Green Event Certification from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management.
On Thursday, August 21, The Tennis Wave presented by 11th Hour Racing will kick off the 2025 Induction Celebration at Newport landmark Bowen’s Wharf. Featuring a pop-up tennis court right on the waterfront, this free, all-day event will be open to the public starting at 11 a.m.
