Marley - Research Admin Coordinator

Marlena Tavernier-Fine

RESEARCH ADMIN COORDINATOR

Marley is a Research Administrative Coordinator, working across 11th Hour Racing and Ocean Hour Farm to help build and manage research systems in the commercial maritime industry and in regenerative farming spaces.

Marley grew up in the redwood forests of Northern California, learning to sail in the beautiful, but frigid, waters of the Pacific. She continued to sail in the slightly warmer San Francisco Bay while earning a degree in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley, and then headed East after graduation to take a position as the mate on a classic wooden yawl.

After a few years of work and travel in the leisure marine industry, her love for conservation and research work was rekindled after she joined a scientific diving program based in West Papua, Indonesia. Returning to the states and finding a way to blend her knowledge of the maritime world with her commitment to sustainability, she has found herself a new home on the Atlantic Coast this time.

In her free time, she is an avid fan of “grandmotherly” hobbies; puzzles, reading, cross-stitch, and a dash of rock climbing thrown in for good measure.
