The Ocean Race Summits continue in September with a virtual conference based out of Newport, RI, with leading voices that focus on restoring ocean health and abundance.
Volvo Ocean Race
The Volvo Ocean Race’s global platform presents a unique opportunity – and a clear responsibility – to raise awareness on ocean health issues. As the Founding Principal Partner in sustainability, 11th Hour Racing is working with the Race to produce seven Ocean Summits at Race Villages during the 2017-2018 edition.
The Ocean Summits will gather top speakers from the public and private sector, environmentalists, scientists, NGOs to provide insight into the problems we face and to promote best practices to inspire the audience. The Ocean Summits bring together sport, business, local government, and science to ignite real action on ocean health, with a focus on plastic pollution.
The Volvo Ocean Race will issue a Small Book of Big Ideas gathering all the commitments announced during the Ocean Summits to inspire and create a networking platform as a resource for those who would like to start an initiative. Additionally, they will present examples of solutions that have had an impact on a local level, so that they can be implemented on a wider scale.
