Protect Our Winters

Protect Our Winters (POW) is the outdoor movement for climate impact. We bring together scientists, brands, athletes, creatives, and outdoor enthusiasts working to protect a future with clean air, clean water, and a healthy planet. In partnership with 11th Hour Racing, they are spearheading initiatives that underscore the significant influence of the Outdoor State—a collective of 175 million individuals who engage in outdoor recreation—in driving climate action for current and future generations. Through storytelling, Protect Our Winters and 11th Hour Racing aim to highlight the intrinsic connection between our mountains and ocean, emphasizing the deep connection between these environments.

INITIATIVES SUPPORTED BY 11TH HOUR RACING

  • The Water Alliance, a newly formed network that unites athletes, creatives, scientists, and community leaders from water-based sports and regions to take action at the intersection of climate, land, and water. This initiative aims to engage water-connected audiences to drive measurable policy wins on clean water, marine protection, and coastal resilience, support education and storytelling tied to water-based climate solutions, and strengthen the intersection of advocacy, sport, and science for greater impact.
  • Community Hubs, where POW will support local communities via clean energy campaigns, events, and local advocacy opportunities, to further integrate water as a priority in its work
  • Publish Lands campaigns, where POW will rally the Outdoor State to speak up and defend public lands from fossil fuel extraction, to further integrate water as a priority in its work.
  • Advocacy & Adventure Alliance Grants to support films, journalism, research, photography, workshops, and adventures led by members of the POW Alliance—athletes, scientists, and creatives who invest considerable time and effort in climate advocacy.
