11th Hour Racing Sponsors Sport Positive Summit 2024 to Drive Sustainability Across Global Sports
Empowering athletes and organizations to lead environmental action beyond the arena
11th Hour Racing announced today its sponsorship of Sport Positive Summit 2024, reflecting its belief in the power of sport to inspire change. This sponsorship underscores 11th Hour Racing’s commitment beyond sailing by engaging with various sports sectors to amplify the collective voice for sustainability.
The 5th edition of the Sport Positive Summit will take place in London, U.K., on Oct. 8 and 9. It will bring together sports stakeholders from all over the world to support the acceleration of positive climate action and safeguard the future of global sport.
The summit, which will be held in collaboration with UNFCCC Global Climate Action and the International Olympic Committee, aligns with the Sport for Climate Action Framework principles. It provides a supportive platform where sports can learn from each other, disseminate good practices, develop new tools, and bolster collaboration within areas of mutual interest.
“Sustainability isn’t limited to the marine sector. Whether cutting carbon emissions at events, reducing waste, or switching to renewable energy, every industry can take tangible steps to minimize their footprint,” said Lorraine McKenna, sponsorship director at 11th Hour Racing. “Our goal is to make sustainability practical and actionable, showing that any sport or business can make a meaningful impact.”
Two initiatives sponsored by 11th Hour Racing will be featured at the Summit, emphasizing cross-industry collaboration, inclusion, and sustainability. Key programs include Team Francesca Clapcich’s “Belonging” workshop, which is focused on creating inclusive and safe spaces in sailing and beyond, and UpWind by MerConcept, which accelerates opportunities for women in professional offshore sailing.
The Summit will also highlight The Toolbox, developed by 11th Hour Racing—a comprehensive suite of guides, tools, and templates designed to make sustainability strategies free and accessible for organizations of any size or industry.
“We are delighted to welcome 11th Hour Racing as a sponsor for the Summit this year,” said Claire Poole, Sport Positive CEO and founder. “The beating heart of everything we do is supporting the increase of action and ambition on tackling the climate and biodiversity crises in and through sport. Our sponsors and partners have to be entirely aligned on mission, and 11th Hour Racing truly is.”
The Sport Positive Awards 2024, which will be held at the Summit, will honor organizations and individuals globally that use sport to address the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and environmental justice.
Among the 2024 Sport Positive Awards shortlist are several initiatives supported by 11th Hour Racing: IMOCA RISE (Reduced Impact Sail Evaluation) for inspired innovation, The Toolbox for education and training, 11th Hour Racing Team’s 2019-2023 Campaign Report for report of the year, Mangrove Forest Restoration with the Philadelphia Eagles and The Ocean Foundation for biodiversity, and The Ocean Race’s Racing with Purpose program for climate impact reduction.
Through its sponsorship of Sport Positive Summit 2024, 11th Hour Racing aims to inspire meaningful dialogue and drive lasting change across the global sports ecosystem.
