Bike Newport, 11th Hour Racing, and Local Partners Rally to Make Biking a First Choice for Getting Around

This summer, Bike Newport is teaming up with local businesses to help more people on Aquidneck Island to Get There By Bike! supported by 11th Hour Racing. This campaign encourages residents and visitors alike to swap car drives for bike rides: for their health, for our ocean, and for the sheer fun of it!

As Newport celebrates iconic events like the Newport Folk Festival–also sponsored by 11th Hour Racing as the Official Greening Partner–the call to two wheels is louder than ever. Each day 1,600 people roll to Folk Fest by bike, a growing testament to how biking reduces congestion, eases parking headaches, and connects people to their destinations in a more personal, healthy, and sustainable way.

“Biking is for everyone, and it’s one of the most powerful tools we have for building healthier communities and a healthier planet,” said Bari Freeman, Executive Director at Bike Newport. “Together with 11th Hour Racing and a host of community partners, we’re helping people experience how easy and awesome it is to get there by bike.”

Through the campaign, Bike Newport and its allies are working to build a culture of everyday biking in Newport. Whether it’s commuting to work, heading to the beach, or arriving in style at the music festivals, biking makes Newport more connected, more accessible, and more fun.

“We support solutions that create ripple effects for the environment, local economies, and community well-being,” said Michelle Carnevale, President of 11th Hour Racing. “Biking reduces emissions, eases traffic, supports small businesses, and proves that sustainable choices can be both practical and enjoyable. We’re looking forward to seeing how this effort continues to grow and strengthen the Newport community and beyond.”

Get There By Bike! is about movement; not just on the roads, but in how we think about transportation, climate action, and community well-being.
