11th Hour Racing Announces Four New Ambassadors for World Ocean Month!
We are thrilled to announce the addition of four new 11th Hour Racing Ambassadors! With the addition of these four athletes and creatives, we now support a talented group of 17 ambassadors worldwide. At 11th Hour Racing, we work closely with ambassadors to drive change and fund projects related to ocean health and advocacy. Through these collaborations, we empower ambassadors to catalyze change within their communities and leverage their influence to inspire fans and peers globally.
11th Hour Racing’s ambassadors are a community of ocean-loving professional athletes, creators, and storytellers.
Meg O’Hara
Whistler, Canada
Meg O’Hara is an artist and environmentalist; her work centers around ocean conservation in the polar regions. She will join an Ocean Science Expedition in Greenland for her ambassador project to explore and document the Arctic’s beauty and fragility. With onboard scientists and crew, Meg will contribute to research on the Arctic’s role in the global climate system and its specific threats. She will sketch, paint, and photograph the majestic glaciers and icebergs from the sailboat. Following the expedition, she will select five cities across North America and Europe to display her artwork on billboards to inspire viewers to seek adventure in nature and reflect on their role in preserving it.
Ian Walsh
Maui, Hawai’i
Professional surfer Ian Walsh is an internationally renowned sporting legend known for riding big waves and advocating for ocean conservation. A long-time athlete sponsored by Red Bull and Patagonia, Walsh is widely regarded as one of the best surfers of his generation. In 2004, he founded the Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem Foundation; the foundation hosts an annual free surf event to enhance the potential and well-being of youth through surf-focused activities that promote academic success, healthy lifestyles, and lifelong environmental stewardship. This small, local surf contest for Maui’s youth has grown into Hawai’i’s largest free surf contest. For his first 11th Hour Racing ambassador project, Ian will use his grant to elevate the event.
Danni Washington
Miami, Florida
Danni is an internationally renowned TV personality and science communicator with 15+ years of experience communicating about the ocean. In 2008, she and her mother founded Big Blue & You to support emerging activists—especially young women of color and other historically excluded groups—with STEAM resources to help them become ocean advocates. As an 11th Hour Racing ambassador, Danni will lead an immersive STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) event to celebrate the ocean’s wonders while fostering creativity, education, and community engagement. Additionally, she will create a YouTube series to highlight uplifting news about marine conservation efforts, scientific discoveries, and positive initiatives to protect the ocean.
Todd Hannigan
Ventura, California
Growing up in Ventura, California, Todd has dedicated decades to producing music for environmental documentaries for brands like Patagonia and YETI, reflecting his commitment to harmony with nature. Our collaboration with Todd Hannigan began when he composed the original score for 11th Hour Racing’s short film Rhythm of Water. With a deep connection to film and music, Todd won a Grammy in 2014 for Big Easy Express and has showcased his work in eco-film festivals worldwide. For his ambassador project, he will pilot a new film series, ‘Farm to Sea,’ to highlight the connection between our farms, coastal communities, and the ocean.
